Education
- High school diploma or equivalent: This is the minimum requirement for entry-level roles, often with a focus on fishery science or related courses.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree: A degree in food science, biology, biochemistry, quality control, or a related engineering discipline is highly beneficial but not required for this position.
Experience
- Seafood or food industry experience: Many positions require a minimum of two to three years of experience in a fish processing plant or a related quality assurance role.
- Quality inspection or assurance experience:Experience in quality control or quality assurance is often a key requirement.
Certifications
- HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification: This is a critical and frequently required qualification for food safety.
- Other certifications: Certifications like ISO(International Organization for Standardization) or BRC (British Retail Consortium) are highly valuable.
Skills and knowledge
- Technical skills:
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and seafood processing standards.
